Eastern Region Training Summit, April 9, 2013. Ernie Salgado shows a poster to local tribal veterans listing the 230 Indian warriors listed as "Native American" on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. Mr. Salgado is collaborating with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) and American tribes to identify all the American Indian and Alaska Natives on The Wall project.... STORY & MORE PHOTOS. WE NEED YOUR HELP and support to identify our tribal members who gave their life in the Vietnam War. As of April, 2013, there are approximately 230 names identified as being American Indian or Alaska Native on The Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. Their status as "Native American" on The Wall project was dependent on if they checked the Native American check box on their induction papers — so there are likely many more Tribal members who are not properly designated. Please click on the poster below to download the small PDF and look for your tribal members' information — if they are not listed we need you to contact us (we are developing a Form and process for you to submit this information): PLEASE PRINT THIS POSTER AND POST IT IN YOUR TRIBAL AREAS.

										| BARONA INDIAN RESERVATION
BARONA INDIAN RESERVATION, JANUARY 23, 2013 — Janna Hoehn (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund VVMF), representing Jan Scruggs, presented the "Faces Never Forgotten" project to American Indian veterans to develop Tribal involvement in the national project. The seven-foot tall retractable banner Ernie Salgado created for the meeting is an earlier version of this web page, and features his Tribal community letter.
DENIS TURNER, Executive Director of Southern California Tribal Chairmen's Association, Inc. (SCTCA), summed up the meeting as "very enlightening, a very great honoring."
ROY COOK, Vietnam War era veteran and former President of San Diego American Indian Warriors Association (SDAIWA), posed for a photograph with Janna Hoehn during the meeting at Barona Luxury Casino Hotel. | September 21, 1012 Dear Tribal Community, A few years past the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall was created to honor the 58,282 brave American warriors that were killed in action (KIA) or missing in action (MIA) during the Vietnam War. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is currently expanding the honoring of these heroes by building The Education Center next to “The Wall."

The goal of “The Wall of Faces” is to display photo images of each of the 58,282 warriors whose names are memorialized on The Vietnam Memorial Wall, giving a face to the faceless. The visitor sees that these are real people who shared the same hopes and aspirations that we all do. This exhibit will include a fitting tribute to those who have sacrificed all in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have been in contact with the President of the project, Jan Scruggs, in Washington, D.C., and he is very interested in establishing a special section for Native Americans that have served and died for our Country. "This is a great opportunity to showcase to the world the contribution our Native American men and women have made in the Armed Forces."
-Ernie Salgado, Jr., Soboba Tribal Member At a recent fundraiser held in Hemet, California, we honored two of our local Native American warriors that were killed in action in Vietnam: Willie Lyons Jr. (Morongo), and Joe Pink (Pala).

Hold on to what is good,Even if it's a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe, Even if it's a tree that stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do,Even if it's a long way from here.
Hold on to your life,Even if it's easier to let go.
Hold on to my hand,Even if someday I'll be gone away from you.
